Operational Excellence Training Program
Berka Solutions blend a combination of theoretical training with live engagement workshops drawing on commercial, technical, and organizational behaviours knowledge in delivering transformational change through Operational Excellence Programs.
This training is supplemented and aided through a balance of team coaching and leadership mentoring to enable the change process to be embraced and embedded into our client organizations.
Our Operational Excellence Training Program is structured in six modules allowing the client team to understand and integrate lean into their culture over a period of time.
Each module builds on the previous module and are similar to the industry standards of White Belt, Yellow Belt and Green Belt, and supported with specific Change Management, Leadership and Strategy workshops for the leadership team.
This whole training modules will be delivered within 6-8 week time period.

Module 1
Basic Introduction to Lean & Continuous Improvement
The objectives of this module is to:
The objective of the basic introduction to Lean & Continuous Improvement training is to develop a clear understanding of what Lean ad continuous improvement programs and theories are, how they can be applied to the organisation, and the benefits that they yield to both the employee and the organisation
The learning outcomes will enable the Trainee to:
- understand the benefits of Lean and Continuous Improvement.
- complete a basic process flow map.
- identify and improvement idea and present it to management
Module 2
The Visual Factory – Communications, Engagement & the 6-S Program
The objectives of this module is to:
The objective of the communication, engagement and 6-S program training is to develop a clear understanding of the importance of communication and engagement within the organisation.
The program focuses on Tier communication, shared language and behavioral standards of respect, engagement, collaboration, and feedback.
The 6-S program focuses on a visual implementation of the Operational Excellence Program to demonstrate the benefit of implementing the Operational Excellence Program, and the benefits that the program will yield to both the employee and the organisation.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes will enable the Trainee to:
- understand the benefits of standardized communication and engagement.
- understand the accepted organizational behaviours.
- Develop and implement a 6 S program.
Module 3
Operational Excellence – RCA, Problem Solving & A3s Objective
The objectives of this module is to:
The objective of the Operational Excellence program is to train the participants in the principles of root cause analysis including the 5 whys, the Ishikawa diagram and 5W1H analysis.
Following the development of root cause analysis, the participants will focus on developing their problem-solving techniques.
The program will focus on the role of Gemba in problem solving, understanding cognitive bias, and solution mapping through PDCA and DMAIC models, specifically in setting out A3s.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes will enable the Trainee to:
- understand the benefits of root cause analysis, and how to complete and RCA investigation.
- understand the relationship between root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Understand the models for problem solving mapping and be able to develop an A3.
Module 4
Operational Excellence – Green Belt Project Implementation
The objectives of this module is to:
The objective of the Operational Excellence program is to train, coach and mentor the participants in identifying and implementing a Green Belt project including the application of waste identification, process mapping, root cause analysis to establish the current state, and problem-solving techniques to determine the future state and the associated action plan required to deliver continuous improvement.
The Operational Excellence program will be mapped through project management techniques and presented as an A3 to track performance and demonstrate the continuous improvement process in action.
The module will be delivered through individual coaching sessions and team workshops to ensure effective project scoping, and implementation.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes will enable the Trainee to:
- Map a continuous improvement project from start to finish.
- understand the relationship between Lean, Continuous improvement, waste
identification, root cause analysis, problem solving, project management and
action planning.
- Develop and implement a continuous improvement project to deliver benefit to
the organisational employees, their work processes, and the business.
Module 5
Change Management through Kaizen & Lean Project Management
The objectives of this module is to:
The objective of the Change Management Training program is to train, coach and mentor the leadership team in identifying and implementing a Lean Manufacturing and continuous Improvement through Kaizen events and project management tools.
The Change Management program looks at the overall Operational Excellence program and the role of leadership and change management theory in delivering change through Lean, continuous
improvement and project management techniques.
The module will be delivered through individual coaching sessions and team workshops to
ensure effective project scoping, and implementation.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes will enable the Trainee to:
- Understand the theories & barriers to change management implementation.
- understand the relationship between leadership, change management and
project implementation.
- Understand how to enable and implement a continuous improvement project to
deliver benefit to the organizational employees, their work processes and the
business.
Module 6
Leadership Module – VMOSA, Culture & Leadership
The objectives of this module is to:
The objective of the Leadership Training program is to train, coach and mentor the leadership team in identifying and implementing a Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement program, specifically through establishing a clear framework incorporating the VMOSA model and Hoshin Kanri strategic planning.
The Workshops will focus on alignment between Leadership, Culture and Strategy in driving organizational development.
The module will be delivered through individual coaching sessions and team workshops to ensure effective understanding, and implementation.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes will enable the Trainee to:
- Understand the theories behind the VMOSA Model
- understand the relationship between leadership, culture, and strategic
implementation.
- Understand how to enable and implement a Operational Excellence Program to
deliver benefit to the organizational employees, their work processes and the
